KMSS protest in Demow

DEMOW, March 22: A flood relief scheme was launched under Demow Water Resource Department at Khamun and Khanikar in which a large number of labourers were appointed, but their wages have not been paid till date due to which on Saturday afternoon a protest was staged by the labourers with the support of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), Demow Anchalik committee against the contractor.

The labourers staged the protest in front of the Demow Water Resource Department. The working Engineer Prabin Bhuyan, came to the spot and had a discussion with the protesters. In the discussion it had been decided that 40 labourers would get their wages for that particular scheme for which they were appointed. Bhuyan gave a written assurance after which the protest was withdrawn.
