BOKAKHAT, September 28:  In pursuance of an order of the High Court, the Revenue Circle Officer of Bokakhat, Bipul Das has passed an eviction order to 666 families residing around Kaziranga tiol Park (KNP).

The High Court issued this order on the basis of a writ petition filed by Mril Saikia of Golaghat alleging that people around Kaziranga were illegal possessors of land. However, most of the 666 families are indigenous people and had settled there before Kaziranga was declared a tiol park.

KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi has vehemently criticized the role of the Forest Department and decided to go against the order of the High Court as the ordince was issued on the basis of alleged fake information supplied by Mril Saikia to gain ‘cheap publicity’.

Gogoi  has appealed the people of greater Kaziranga to attend a protest rally to be held on September 30.
