KNCS celebrates 30th foundation day

HOWRAGHAT, Aug 1: Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong (KNCA) celebrated its 30th foundation day on Monday at the Central Committee office, Diphu with a day-long programme. On the occasion a meeting was also held. While attending the foundation day celebration meeting, former MP Dr. Jayanta Rongpi praised the KNCA for articulating and fighting for solution of the social problems of the Karbis.  Speaking on the renegade five HSDC MACs, Rongpi said that some might think that the party as now weak as five HSDC MACs had joined the BJP. But this wrong concept should be removed. Dr Rongpi urged the KNCA to build up a strong force by constituting various branch committees in village levels. Former KAAC CEM and convener of the HSDC, Jotson Bey attacked Tuliram Ronghang, CEM of KAAC, and accused him of being involved in a sex scandal. Earlier in the morning a procession was taken out from KNCA office to DC office and a memorandum was submitted to the Governor of Assam, P B Acharya on several points like opposing granting of ST (H) status to Bodos of Karbi Anglong as per Clause-8 of Bodo Accord, protesting against price rise, to check human trafficking and drug abusing, withdrawal of introduction of other wildlife sanctuaries and eco-sensitive zones, border protection, women reservation bill, demanding investigation into the alleged involvement of KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang in  the sex scandal and his removal from CEM post.
