FROM A REPORTER
SHILLONG, Nov 30: The Kiang ngbah Government College Students Union (KNGCSU) on November 29 submitted a memorandum to the Director of Higher and Technical Education (DHTE) government of Meghalaya, Ram Singh IAS, demanding the immediate appointment of a full-fledged Principal and Vice Principal at the Kiang ngbah Government College. As per the memorandum, the KNGCSU has set a one week deadline to the department of education in appointing a full-fledged Principal and Vice Principal at the college. Justice Paul Lyngdoh General secretary of KNGCSU said that if the government fails to meet their demands within the stipulated time frame (one week) then they will take up agitation programme by organising a public rally. “We have to remind the government that there is a Kiang ngbah Govt College, Jowai, because it seems that the government has forgotten about our college in Jaintia Hills,” he said. The KNGCSU informed that since the retirement of former Principal of the college JMQ Lyngdoh last month, the government has till date only appointed an Acting Principal which has brought a lot of inconveniences to the students of the college. The student union has urged the Director of Higher and Technical Education to take up the matter seriously and appoint a full-fledged Principal and Vice Principal in the college at the earliest.
