Kokrajhar district BJP president resigns due to interl brawl

KOKRAJHAR, March 30: At a time when the Bharatiya Jata Party (BJP) is gaining ground in BTC region, especially in head quarter town Kokrajhar, the president of the Kokrajhar district Biti Bala Basumatary tendered her resigtion letter to the State president of the BJP Bhattacharyya on Saturday owing to some interl brawls within the party.

In her resigtion letter to Bhattacharyya, Basumatary said she had decided to resign from the post of president of Kokrajhar district BJP for various conspiracies against her by State BJP Secretary Mriganka Barman and RSS Pracharak Kumar Pratiban. She alleged that both Barman and Pratiban were conspiring against her and both of them had been violating the rules and regulation of the BJP.

In her written complaint to the media persons, she said some BJP leaders had been conspiring against her to oust from the post of president. She alleged that Kabita Basumatary who is a newcomer to BJP and sought BJP ticket to contest from Salakati was also working like an agent. She also alleged that the BJP decided to field candidates in all 40 BTC constituencies and a meeting was held on March 27 but some of the leaders created hue and cry saying that the declared candidate list needed sigture from core committee and these persons conspired against her. She also said the state BJP president also issued show cause notice to her through e-mail to conceal the interl scuffle.

Talking to media persons on Monday at Shakti Ashram, BJP State president Siddhartha Bhattacharyya said he issued show cause notice to Kokrajhar district BJP president Biti Bala Basumatary on March 28 based on a complaint letter submitted by Kabita Basumatary. He said Basumatary was suspended from the post as she was breaking party discipline. He said due to her anti-party activities and misbehavior she invited discipliry action against her as per provision of the BJP constitution.
