Kokrajhar NGO extends helping hand to conflict-hit HSLC candidates

KOKRAJHAR, June 10: The NEDAN foundation, an NGO based in Kokrajhar has been working on Child Protection and RTE along with children development issues in Kokrajhar district.

Sources from the NGO said since 2014 onwards the NEDAN foundation has been supporting adolescents in promoting higher education by providing supplementary coaching classes for six months in those conflict-hit  areas. In 2014 their target group for matric candidates has been successful in the examition. A total of 11 students secured 1st division, 11 students secured 2nd division and 12 students secured 3rd. division.  Some of them have got the letter marks.

In 2015, the NEDAN foundation had targeted 202 matric candidates from 5 different conflict affected areas. The supplementary coaching classes have been started from the month of October 2015. Out of 202 students from five different locations, 192 students have passed the exam. 17 students have achieved 1st division and nine students got the distinction. 72 students have secured the 2nd division and 10 students have got letter marks in the subjects and 103 students have secured 3rd division. Apart from these, the students displaced due to conflict have been felicitated by the NEDAN foundation and as a token of love the NGO has provided one time admission fee, reading materials.
