Kokrajhar observes Intertiol Yoga Day

KOKRAJHAR, June 21: Along with the rest of the world, the Intertiol Yoga Day was celebrated in every nook and corner of Kokrajhar district on Tuesday morning. The day received huge response from people of all walks of life.

The Kokrajhar district administration celebrated the day in association with Pathanjali Yog Samity, Kokrajhar. Bandhu NGO organized the day at Rajmela field while the Art of Living celebrated the day in association with the ABSU at Kokrajhar College auditorium hall. Besides, similar programmes were held in different places of the district with strong participation of people.

The chief of BTC Hagrama Mohilary, State Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, BTC EM- Doneswar Goyary, Deputy Commissioner MP Sharma, Superintendent of Police SP Saikia and BTC IGP-LR Bisnoi took part in the programme at Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA), along with other dignitaries, organized by the district administration and Patanjali Yog Samity. The Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner also iugurated a similar programme at Rajmela field by lighting the lamp.

Talking to media persons, State Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma said that yoga made people physically strong and it provided good health. She said people of all walks of life should come forward to do yoga for healthy body and healthy mind. On the rampant use of drugs by the youngsters in the society, she said the use of alcohol and other drug substances by the youths was unfortute and they must give it up and join the yoga camp for good health.

Meanwhile, former Rajya Sabha MP UG Brahma took part in the yoga camp organized by the Art of Living at Kokrajhar Commerce College where a good number of students took part. He said the yoga was the only way to keep fit both physically and mentally.
