Kokrajhar SP to act tough against militant outfits

KOKRAJHAR, August 28: Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police (SP) who recently took the charge of the district has decided to act tough against the flourish of militant outfits in the district. The SP said that strong measures against the militant outfits like the NDFB (S), Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO), Rava Viper Army (RVA), Adivai militant groups and other insurgencies in Kokrajhar district would be taken.

Addressing the media persons at his office chamber recently, Kokrajhar SP Shyamal Prasad Saikia said that various militant outfits have been trying to strengthen their bases and strong presence. He said the NDFB-S is still active with 30-35 cadres in Lower Assam. Apart from this the NDFB-S, various outfits like Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO), RVA, tiol Santhal Liberation Army (NSLA), Muslim Protection Tiger Force of Assam (MPTFA) etc. have been trying to gain foothold and strengthening their base in the area. He, however, said the police along with security forces are continuing counter operations against the militant groups to thwart their disruptive activities. He also said any kind of extortion bid by the militant groups would be dealt with strong hands.
