Kokrajhar to host 8th Bodousa Cup in lower Assam

KOKRAJHAR, June 6: The Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA)

has been chosen by the Bodousa Sports Club as one of the four zones to

host 8th Bodousa soccer cup, 2016 to be held from June 26. The lower

Assam teams would be covered by Kokrajhar. The other three venues

are–Tinsukia, Jorhat and Guwahati.

Talking to reporters at KDSA play ground on Sunday, the president of

the Bodousa Sports Club, Arunjyoti Moran said the club has been

organizing the annual cup since the last eight years especially in upper

Assam but this time the venue has been increased to four covering

maximum parts to boost the soccer activities in the state. He said the

Bodousa cup which has been organizing the cup every year in the me of

Moran king Bodousa, will start from June 26 and will end on July 10. He

also said both the opening and closing ceremony would be held in

Tinsukia and there would be eight matches in Kokrajhar and four each in

Guwahati and Jorhat. He also said as many as 18 teams including from

Aruchal Pradesh, Sikkim, Meghalaya, West Bengal and Mizoram will take

part in the cup.

Moran said the Moran people have close affinity with the Bodos and

still they want to keep alive of the age old racial unity. He said the

champion team would be given cash Rs. 1 lakh while the runners up Rs.

50,000 besides trophies. Expecting help from the BTC Sports department

and KDSA, Moran said there would also be a multi lingual souvenir which

would be published in six languages including Bodo.

BTC EM of Sports and Youth Welfare, Doneswar Goyary said the

Kokrajhar was ready to organize the soccer cup at KDSA. He said it was

an opportunity to have opportunity to organize the Bodousa cup as it

would be a privilege for the soccer lover and talents to get new

experience as there are huge potential for football in BTC area. He also

assured that the council will extend possible help for organizing the

Bodousa Cup.
