KOKRAJHAR, June 5: Kokrajhar is all set to host the Prag Cine Awards, North East-2017 under the sponsorship of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) with a two-day colorful programme on June 17 and June 18 at Bodofa Cultural Complex. A meeting of the organizing committee was formed on Monday at PWD Guest House to chalk out the scheduled programme. The meeting was chaired by the president of the organizing committee, Mono Kr. Brahma who is also former EM of BTC.

Talking to media persons, the CMD of the Prag News, Sanjive rain said the Prag News was going to organize the biggest ever mega event of the Northeast, Prag Cine Award for the year 2017 in association with the BTC with an aim of enhancing the sense of brotherhood in the region. He said the Assamese film industry came into existence with the release of Joymoti in 1935 and the Bodo film industry got its establishment with the release of Dai in 1982. The Bodos had enough potential and some had proved their talents in tiol and intertiol level, he said, adding that a large section of people of the region deserved a big platform on regiol level to make in to the global one and Prag Cine Awards, 2017 aimed at holding the event in Kokrajhar to promote the feeling of brotherhood.

Through the event, Prag Cine Award since 2003 has been recognizing the contributions of persolities in the field of cinema by giving away the lifetime achievement award every year to a single person, rain said, adding that this time the life achievement award would be conferred to prominent director Munin Barua and awards would be given in 23 slots. He said many films from the Northeast were in fray for the competition and apart from these, hundreds of film persolities from the Northeast of tiol and intertiol repute would grace the occasion. The event will be summarily telecast in the regiol, tiol and intertiol television channels. Prominent Bollywood stars like Jackie Shroff, Mahima Choudhury, renowned singers- Zubin Garg, Anurag Papon and many others are likely to grace the event in Kokrajhar.

Famous Assamese film actor Biju Phukan hoped that the mega event in Kokrajhar would be a new bridge for the Assamese industry that had some gap with lower Assam. He said cultural unity was the greatest weapon and it would be cementing the cultural integrity of the region. He hoped that the event would be a big success.
