KPLT rebel killed in encounter at Karbi Anglong

GUWAHATI, April 28: A hardcore militant of the Karbi Peoples Liberation Tiger (KPLT) was gunned down in a joint operation of Karbi Anglong police and the army at Malasi area in of East Karbi Anglong on Monday.  

According to Army sources based on intelligence  input about presence of militants in village Malasi of East Karbi Anglong,  the Security Forces launched a well coordited operation in the area.

“Traversing  cross country over thickly forested and treacherous  terrain of East Karbi Anglong, the joint team of Army and Police maged to cordon of the rebels. In subsequent operation, after a fierce fire fight, the security forces maged to apprehend one militant while another was elimited,” sources said.

The apprehended rebel has been identified as Dor Sing Karthar while  the slain militant  has been identified as Martin Tokbi. One pistol along with ammunition and various incrimiting documents including extortion notes of KPLT and money receipts were recovered from the rebels.
