Krang Rngi sordars cry foul

Shillong, Sept 19: Six sordars (traditiol heads) of six different villages under Krang Rngi area falling under the Hima Lyngdoh of Sohiong has alleged that they are being undermined by another group.

The six sordars alleged that the opposite group under the banner of Synjuk Ki Sordars (committee of sordars) of Krang Rngi consists of its president Lymber Coat Stepwar, vice president Bestwellroy Stepwar and secretary Poling Stan Stepwar, beside others.

Addressing media persons here on Tuesday, Wut Mawlong, one of the sordars who was aggrieved, said, “The Synjuk Ki Sordar has undermined us and wanted to do away with all the six sordars who have been elected by the people and also got their sad (confirmation letter) from the Lyngdoh of Sohiong for reason best known to them.”

According to Mawlong, the sordars from the Synjuk also demanded from the Lyngdoh of Sohiong to do away with all the six sordars who head the villages of Umsier Lumthangblang, Diewlieh Umsier, Krang Lumpyrdoi Diewiong, Krang Nongshiliang Lumkynton, Krang Nongrngi and Krang Nongrum Centre, all falling under Krang Rngi region.

He informed the media that in the whole of Krang Rngi region there are 11 villages and 11 sordars.

Mawlong, however, said that the sordars from the other five villages under the Synjuk wants the six sordars to be derecognized and also the villages they represent.

“We have all the facilities in our village right from the PDS system, ASHA, etc, and we have been elected by our people and also have the sad from the Lyngdoh and to say that we have no boundary or jurisdiction is ucceptable,” Mawlong asserted.
