Krantikal Award 2015 conferred on eminent Assamese poet Jyan Pujari

GAON, May 3: “Radical poets should not play with poetic skill, rather they should always express reality and the truth,” said veteran litterateur  Hirendra th Datta at the Krantikal Award, 2015 function held at the conference hall of Prasanti Lodge in gaon on Sunday.

Datta, who was the chief guest, said that in poetry the touch of the heart and sense of beauty should be available. Moreover, he said, “Poetry is a game played with fire and the poet always plays with words.”

The Krantikal Award, 2015 was conferred to poet Jyan Pujari. Speaking about his work, Datta said, “The words and language of rural people and cultivators are found in the poetry of Jyan Pujari and Assamese folk life is an element in his poetry.”

He appealed to the new generation of poets to give more importance to folk life and highlight it in their poetry and writings. On the other hand, receiving the Krantikal Award, 2015, Jyan Pujari said, “All poets look for people who read and appreciate their poetry.”

Pujari received the award along with gamusa, cheleng, a japi made of brass, cash, books, certificate and other gifts. The function was presided over by critic Prabhat Bora and anchored by the proprieter of Krantikal Publication, Kailash Rajkhuwa. Prominent writers of the district like Upendra Borkataki, Dilip Phukan and Dr Khargeswar Bhuyan were also present at the function.
