Krishak Nyas observes World Environment Day

GAURISAGAR, June 6:  Along with rest of the world, Krishak Nyas, a leading NGO of Sivasagar district, observed World Environment Day in association with Jn Bikash Vidyapith, Amguri at the school premises on Sunday. The day-long programme started with plantation of neem plant in the school campus. Later an art competition was held among the students of the school in two sections. In lower section (from Class III to Class VI) Priyakshi Gogoi bagged the first prize while Demi Rani Baruah and Deep Kurmi got the 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.  In upper section (class VII to Class X) Prob Jyoti Borah got the first prize , Ayanbri Borgohain  got the second prize , Jishu Borah and Chandan Kurmi  bagged the 3rd and 4th prizes respectively. In the evening, an awareness meeting was held on environment promotion and protection. Dr. Phuleswar th, Programme Coorditor, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sivasagar graced the meeting as an appointed speaker. In his speech he urged upon the students to check air pollution for the sake of the next generation. Prodip Dutta, senior jourlist of Amguri and former president, Sivasagar District Jourlist Association and Ajit Kumar th, vice-president, Krishak Nyas also spoke about the significance of the day. The meeting was anchored by Rajib Dutta, publicity secretary, Krishak Nyas.
