KSA moves CM seeking action against AKDC chief

BY OUR STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, June 27:  The Karbi Students’ Association (KSA), Kamrup today moved Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal with a memorandum through the Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner to ensure an inquiry by the Chief Minister’s Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Cell into the anomalies in the implementation of various schemes  worth Rs 14.20 crore by the Amri Karbi Development Council (AKDC) in fiscal 2013-14 and 2014-15. In its memorandum, the students’ body rued the fact that the WPT & BC Director had ordered verification of various schemes in the AKDC on January 30, 2015, and the verification had found irregularities in various schemes. “The Director asked AKDC Chairman Indreswar Teron on June 18, 2016 to take immediate action to complete the implementation/execution of the schemes within a month. Our allegation was against the AKDC Chairman. How come the WPT & BC Director asks the chairman, who is the accused, to see the anomalies rectified?” the student body said, and added: “A member of the council, Ranumai Terangpi has allegations against her. She, however, joined the BJP yesterday. We request you to see that corrupt AKDC members join the BJP to get rid of corruption charges.”
