KSU demands repair of road

SHILLONG, April 25: The Khasi Student Union (KSU)’s Laittyra and Sohbar Unit on Tuesday met Chief Executive Engineer (PWD) Roads demanding immediate black topping of the road from Mawsmai to Shella.

B Lamin, president of the KSU’s laittyra Unit after meeting the PWD Engineer informed that the roads are in pathetic condition which has put the people of the area in great difficulty while traversing through these roads especially during the rainy season.

The Union leader however informed that the Chief Engineer has assured that the 8 km road has been allotted to the CCL Company which will be constructed through the German technology and the construction work will be started within the month of May this year.

He observed that  these roads systems has also deter the coming of the tourist to these places which has many tourist spot like the Thangkharang Park, Khoh Ramhah including the Kynrem Falls which in turn has also affected the livelihood of the people in the region.

Lamin also informed that this road has been in a deplorable condition for the past three years.
