KSU has now 2 PG degree holders and a law graduate

SHILLONG, Feb 11: Two post Graduate degree holders and a law graduate will be the cornerstone of the influential Khasi Students Union (KSU) in the next three years.  Lambok Marngar , Shemphang Lyngdoh Mawphlang and Dold Thabah were elected un contested to the Post of President, Vice President and General Secretary of the Union at the thirteen election hld at Shillong on Saturday. The five other posts witnessed a keen contest where 3199 eligible cadres from the 354 circles and Units participated in the elections conducted through the secret ballots. The Units from Barak Valley, Assam and Virangte in Mizoram were part of the elections. Each circle and units sent 10 members to be part of the exercise that took place throughout the day.

Sonstar Nongkhlaw was elected as the Assistant General secretary, Bari Kular Nongseij as Organizing Secretary, Readyonstone Nongrum as Education Secretary, Rapbor Nongrum as Publicity Secretary and Spaidorsing Lyngkhoi as the Office Secretary. The elections were held under the aegis of the election committee headed by former KSU President Danny Khriem and the current Chairman of NESO SamuelJyrwa.

Making the concluding remarks after the announcement of the results, Chairman of the election committee Danny Khyriem reminded the newly elected members of the mantle that they have to carry with them. 'As youths, you have to make selfless sacrifices to live up with the principles of the Union to safeguard the interest of the indigenous Hynneiwtrep race", stated Danny Khriem even as he added that the issue of inner line permit (ILP) the opposition to the proposed Uranium Mining and the Railway project are now in your hands.
