KSU-SWKH public meeting to go ahead as planned

SHILLONG, Dec 6: The KSU’s South West Khasi Hills committee has announced that the public meeting scheduled to be held on December 10, at Mawkyrwat from 12 PM will not be deferred. The meeting is being held to condemn the frequent cases of kidpping and extortion by militants in the region.

“We have urged the people of South West Khasi Hills District including Hima leaders, village representatives, NGOs, women organizations and youth organizations beside others to join the public meeting,” Fowardman Nongrem, general secretary of KSU’s SWKH committee, said.

The KSU-SWKH has also demanded the unconditiol release of Dirsing Syiemlieh. “If the militants involved in the kidpping of Syiemlieh does not want to witness a split between the Garos and Khasis who have been living like brothers for the past many years in the region should release Syiemlieh unharmed,” he said.
