KSU urges overall safety of passengers

SHILLONG, Feb 6: The Khasi Students Union (KSU), Jaintia Hills district, has urged the East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner to ensure overall safety of pedestrians, especially children along the tiol Highway and put forth suggestions for the district administration to take up.

The students union in a petition to the deputy commissioner today suggested construction of speed breakers, markings of zebra crossings and road safety signs along NH-44. Pointing out that with widening and construction of a better road, there are a number of over speeding cases, KSU President Streamly S Niangti said that lack of adequate speed breakers or road safety signs were one of the reasons for over speeding especially within village areas, schools and public institutions.
