KSUPA lodges complaint against Agriculture director, contractors

GUWAHATI, July 17: Alleging that the various schemes of the Agriculture department of the State are not meant for farmers, but is only for the benefit of the Agriculture Minister, Director and some contractors, the Krishak Sramik Unyan Parishad, Assam on Friday alleged that a racket under the patroge of Minister Rockybul Hussain is looting the department.

KSUPA president Pradip Kalita said, “In the year 2014, for distribution of potato seeds, groundnut seeds, fertilizers etc, the department assigned the contract to two contractors mely Sanowar Hussain and Prab Deka. But these two contractors, who have secret understanding with the Agriculture officers, the Minister and the Director siphoned off Rs 3.73 crore through fake bills and chalans.” He further alleged, “Nowadays, it has come to light that the benefactors of various schemes of the agriculture department are the illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.”

The organization said that they have lodged a complaint in this regard with the CID branch of Assam police. It also added that from July 27, the organization will launch agitation against these anomalies.
