KV students celebrate Flag Day of Scouts and Guides

MANGALDAI, November 7: The foundation day of Bharat Scouts and Guides was celebrated as ‘Flag Day’ on Monday at Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), Mangaldai with much enthusiasm among the students and teachers.

The day-long function began in the morning with flag-break programme. Principal of KV Mangaldai, M.Suresh J. Babu   graced the occasion as chief guest. Addressing the august gathering comprising  scouts, guides, Cubs, Bulbuls, Scout Masters, Guide Captains, Cub Masters, local social activists and media persons, the chief guest dwelt at length about the significance of the Flag Day and appealed the students for developing the quality of  self-reliance and to offer selfless service to the society. He also recalled the services rendered by scouts and guides family during the Second World War.

Mashree Kakati, a student of Class VI and Guide Captain Urmimala Dutta also spoke on the celebration. This was followed by ceremonial distribution of Flag Day sticker which was conducted by Guide Captain Masi Devi. Later on the day, a team of scouts and guides led by Rupak Chakrabarty, Sashi Kumar, Pankaj Landge and Mita Kar visited the nearby Block Development Office and Mini Public Health Centre to distribute the Flag Day stickers among the government officials and collected voluntary dotion. The programme came to an end with lowering of the flag.
