Labour strike

Boko, Feb 13: More than 100 labourers from Goodwin Plastic Industries in Chaygaon Industrial Complex went on strike on Friday as they were denied wages as per government rate over time and other benefits. As per Assam Government circulation No. ACL. 43/2004/56 dated Guwahati, January 4, 2016 and Labour and Employment Department, Government of Assam No. GLR/503/81/pt 38 dated November 3, 2015, unskilled labour wages should be Rs. 250 per day for working for a maximum eight hours a day and also overtime wages is twice the ordiry rate of wages for every work in excess of eight hours a day and 48 hours a week.  But the labourers were allegedly paid Rs. 170 per day for 12 hours a day and overtime wage was denied for the extra four hours every day.
