LACs In Lower & Middle Assam Have Highest Rise In Electorates

GUWAHATI: An interesting fact with respect to the rise of voters across the Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) in Assam has been noticed in the latest 2019 photo electoral rolls published on February 6. Compared to the earlier 2018 rolls, the highest number of increase in voters has been found in the LAC segments of Lower Assam and Middle Assam. On the other hand, this increase has not been as significant in the Upper Assam LAC segments.

This is despite the latest data that the highest increase in the number of voters has been noticed at Jonai LAC of Dhemaji district in Upper Assam. The total electors here presently is 2,84,023 which indicates an increase of 14,187 over the 2018 photo electoral roll.

However, the two LAC segments in Assam showing negative growth in electors are Nazira LAC of Sivasagar district, also in Upper Assam and Algapur in Hailakandi district. Statistics indicate that there is a decrease of 1,602 voters here. The total electorates in Nazira as indicated in the 2019 photo electoral roll is 1,22,440. On the other hand, in Algapur, there is a decrease of 483 voters. The total voters there are 1,49,429.

The LAC segments showing increase of electorates of above 6,000 voters (in decreasing order) are as follows: Jonai: 14,187; Dhing: 9,659; Dhemaji: 9,368; Sarupathar: 9,267; South Salmara: 8,276; Mankachar: 8,192; Dalgaon: 7,710; Baghbor: 7,424; Doomdooma: 7,417; Barkhetri: 7,195; Sidli: 7,135; Dhakuakhana: 7,129; Dhekiajuli: 6,928; Abhayapuri (South): 6,404; Digboi: 6,302; Nalbari: 6,168; Tinsukia: 6,092; Sarukhetri: 6,080; and Jagiroad: 6,020.

The total voters in Assam is 2,17,60,604; of which 1,11,32.782 are males while 1,06,27,822 are females.
