Lai khuta of Kartik Hazarika National Theatre Festival erected

Tezpur: The lai khuta of the Kartik Hazarika National Theatre Festival was erected by prominent social worker Dr. Lakhi Goswami on Wednesday at Nehru Maidan, Tezpur in the presence of Alok Nath and Jiten Borthakur, president and secretary of Kartik Hazarika National Theatre Festival organizing committee, writer-director Aswajya Kakoti, Rajen Borthakur, chairman of Assam Book Publication, members of Kamrupia Sanatan Dharma Mandali, Tezpur Environment Society, Tezpur AASU, Joimati Mahila Shanga and many other organizations of Tezpur.

The seven-day fiesta, organized by socio-culture organization Jangum Tezpur, in collaboration with the Directorate of Cultural Affairs from January 3 to January 9. While talking to the media, Alok Nath, president of organizing committee, said, “This festival will bring for theatre lovers not only new productions, but also some highly acclaimed plays like Ismat Aapke Naam directed by Nasrudin Saha, and Manipur’s Macbeth directed by Ranta Thiam. We have kept two shows of the play every day at 4.00 pm and at 6.00 pm.”

He further added, “The aim of this festival is to give wide publicity in the field of drama, theatre and tourism. It is also very important for our children and youth of the society to learn from these prominent artistes. This festival includes street plays, various workshops, seminars, book fairs and much more.”
