Laikhuta of AXX centery celebration to be erected at Jerenga Pather

GAURISAGAR, Dec 3: Laikhuta of Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) centery celebration will be erected on December 5 at the historic Jerenga Pather  on the outskirts of Gaurisagar.

 The first session of AXX was held in Sibasagar in 1917 under the president ship of Sahityarathi Padmath Gohain Barua. On the completion of 100 years of its existence, under the aegis Sivasagar Zila Xahitya Xabha and in association with the people of Sivasagar, a five-day long centery celebration will be held at Sahityarathi Padmath Gohain Barua Kshetra from February 1 to February 5 in a befitting manner.

Preparations are afoot for the laikhuta erection on Monday. According to the schedule, Rajani Kanta Dutta, chief adviser of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, will open the kshetra of the Xabha. In the function, State PWD Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, State Water Resource Minister Keshav Mahanta, Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, will grace the function as guests of honour. On the other hand,  Prab Gogoi, MLA, Sivasagar, Prodip Hazarika, MLA, Amguri, Debabrat Saikia, MLA, zira, Kushal Duwari, MLA, Thowra, Jogen Mohan, MLA, Mahmora, Chakra Gogoi, MLA, Moran, rayan Konwer, Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar, Monimala Phukan, Deputy Commissioner, Charaideo and  Subudh Sonowal, Superintendent of Police of Sivasagar will attend the function as distinguished guests.

The open session will be iugurated by prominent writer and former AXX president Imran Shah. The meeting will be conducted by Porag Kumar Thakur, vice-president, AXX. Before the open session in the morning, Soram Baruah, president of the reception committee, centery celebration of AXX, will hoist the flag and noted educationist Dr. Nirupoma Mahanta will light the earthen lamp followed by all- religion prayer.

Later, Dr Sukha Baruah, noted writer, will pay homage to Joymoti Konweri. Thereafter, noted writer, literary critic and former chief secretary of AXX will erect the laikhuta.
