GUWAHATI, Sept 10: Giving a positive response to the request from East Bengal Club the organizers today rescheduled the fixture of the 64th Bordoloi Trophy. Shillong Lajong FC, instead of East Bengal, will now face Oil India Limited Football Club (OILFC) in the iugural game of the competition. East Bengal will start their campaign on September 21.
As per the earlier schedule East Bengal was supposed to face Oil India Limited Football Club in the iugural game of the tourment. But a last minute change in the schedule of Calcutta Football League forced East Bengal to make request to the organizers to change the date of their first game in Bordoloi trophy. As per the revised schedule of Calcutta Football League, East Bengal will face Mohammedan Sporting on October 18.
A source from the organizing committee today confirmed that the schedule of 64th Bordoloi Trophy is changed a little so that East Bengal could also take part in the championship. “We have changed the earlier schedule a little and kept the first game of the East Bengal on September 21. As per new schedule, OILFC will face Shillong Lajong FC. The fil will be held on September 30.
Meanwhile Bongobi Ogragami Club of Sylhet will be the representative of Bangladesh in the competition. They will replace Abahani Krira Chakra who withdrew their me in the last minute due to some ‘uvoidable reasons’. All the matches of the tourment, except the iugural one, will be held under flood light and will kick off at 7pm.The iugural match will start at 6 in the evening.
