LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district unit of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) on Saturday demonstrated against police atrocities on innocent protestors of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and Tripura Government’s ‘fascist’ act of preventing the NESO delegation from meeting the injured protestors on Friday.

The organization condemned these developments by the ruling BJP governments concerned and observed black day across the district as convened by NESO. The activists of the North Lakhimpur regional unit of AASU, led by president Pranjit Gogoi and secretary Punam Jyoti Burhagohain, burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tripura Chief Minister Biplav Dev in front of the Lakhimpur DC office expressing resentment over the issues.
