LAKHIMPUR, July 31: The final draft NRC was published in Lakhimpur too on Monday along with the other districts of the State. The epoch-making document of the State was published in the 73 NSKs of the district at 10 am. As per report, the names of total 11,21,459 people of the district have been enrolled in the complete draft NRC. The people of the district peacefully thronged the respective NSKs in order to check whether their names had been included in the draft or not. No law-and-order situation was reported from any part of the district.

However, the address of Nowboicha MLA, Mamun Imdadul Haque Choudhry, as published in the final draft NRC, had an error. On the other hand, the Lakhimpur district unit of AASU expressed satisfaction at the publication of the complete draft NRC. President Pulok Borah and secretary Dhanmoni Dutta offered greetings to the people of the State and conveyed special thanks to the Supreme Court of India and each and every employee of the State as well as the district who was involved in the NRC update process. The organization set up a NRC Service Centre at its office premises, Swahid Bhavan, in order to help the people in checking their names in the final draft NRC.
