Lakhimpur traffic police gives people a 'harrowing' time

From a Correspondent
Lakhimpur, Jan  20: The alleged illegal activities of Lakhimpur traffic police are increasing day-by-day due to which common people are suffering, especially after they enter North Lakhimpur town. The traffic police allegedly take advantage of their position to misuse power by demanding money from drivers of trucks, mini trucks and other commercial vehicles. They also allegedly collect goonda tax from every vehicle of the neighbouring State Aruchal Pradesh by misguiding them with wrong sigls and rules.  Contrary to this, they allow big vehicles and trucks to enter in no-entry zones in exchange of money which creates frequent traffic jams inside North Lakhimpur town during office hours. On the other hand, due to the alleged illegal activities of the traffic police, many youngsters lost their lives in the recent past while they were chased by police patrolling bikes. Two such incidents took place recently near Ganesh Udyan and CD Road.
