Silchar, December 25: N Thaosen, sub-registrar of Lakhipur settlement office, is also holding the additiol charge of deputy registrar of Silchar settlement office. N Thaosen presently works only in Silchar office and does not attend his duties in Lakhipur subdivision. The residents of the subdivision have expressed their grievances over the issue. The aggrieved citizens said that they have to travel all the way to Silchar for getting no objection certificate (NOC) from the sub registrar for any land deed transfer. Besides, there is no assistant settlement officer posted in the subdivision, due to which the residents are compelled to come to the district headquarters for any issues pertaining with the department concerned. In the sub-divisiol office of sub registrar of settlement, there is only one female staff who is presently posted. The official concerned travels all the way from Hailakandi to attend the office. It should be mentioned here that Lakhipur was declared as subdivision way back in 1992, but even to this day a majority of the offices have not been started in the subdivision. The public have raised a demand that the district administration should take appropriate steps in this regard to alleviate the sufferings of the common masses of the subdivision.
