Land pattas distributed among indigenous landless families

Dibrugarh: State Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the land patta distribution ceremony for the indigenous landless families of the district on Monday. The event, held under the aegis of the district administration and State Revenue and Disaster Management Department, bore witness to many such landless families, falling under the seven revenue circles of the district, receiving land patta.

Speaking on the occasion, Sarma, who was the chief guest, said that the government, ever since it came to power, was committed towards igniting a ray of hope in the lives of the common public. Talking about the policy of giving land pattas, he added that the same had benefitted around 12,000 such families of the State. Sarma then talked about certain other policies of the government which had brought about a positive change in the lives of the underprivileged sections of the society, including distribution of free books among students, Atal Amrit Abhiyan and exempting marginal tea farmers from paying taxes. He also informed that the government had started road construction projects across the State which would be completed soon.

The event saw the presence of a large number of dignitaries, including MLAs, Prashanta Phukan (Dibrugarh), Rituparna Baruah (Lahoal), Chakradhar Gogoi (Moran), Naren Sonowal (Naharkatia) and Teras Gowala (Duliajan); DC Laya Madduri; Chief Executive Member of Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council, Dipuranjan Makrari and ADC, Dipu Kumar Deka.
