Landslide disrupts communication in Aruchal district

Itagar, May 6: Communication to a few circle headquarters in remote Kurung Kumey district in Aruchal Pradesh has been affected following a massive landslide triggered by incessant rains in the last few days. The landslides blocked the Border Road Tasj Force (BRTF) road leading to Sarli, Upper Koloriang and Damin circles in the district, an official communiqué said here today. The landslide had occurred at Papi llah in between Malapu (New Koloriang) and the district headquarters Monday night causing total disruption in vehicular movement. However, there was no report of any casualty but a vehicle was reportedly damaged in the incident. ADC Deepak Shinde along with other officials of the district visited the spot and is monitoring the road restoration work undertaken by the BRTF. The ADC has directed the officials of BRTF for early restoration of the road by deploying more men power and machinery.
