Landslides disrupt traffic on Hoj-Potin road

Itanagar June 14: Traffic movement along the Hoj-Potin road was on Wednesday disrupted following landslides at various locations due to incessant rain since last night, according to sources.

Massive landslides occurred at Kala Mitti (black mud) point between Hoj and Potin stretch of Trans-Arunachal Highway and a few other locations due to which hundreds of vehicles, including buses, private vehicles were stranded for hours together.

Reportedly, a few private vehicles, which stuck in the mud, were damaged by the sharp rocks and boulders. However, there was no report of any casualty. The road was partially restored later in the day for vehicular traffic. But chances of more landslides are likely tonight if the rain continues, the sources added.

Heavy incessant rains also lashed the State Capital Complex. There were, however, no reports of any property damage or any casualty from any part of the capital city.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted that Thursday and Friday’s forecast would be similar, with heavy rains likely in Papum Pare district.
