Langsning look for a change in fortunes as they face Bengaluru

Shillong, Apr 24: After being narrowly defeated by Chennaiyin FC reserves on April 21, the boys of Langsning FC have moved on to Bangalore, where they will take on the reserve side of Bengaluru FC on Wednesday at 4:00pm.

The two sides have already met once before in Shillong on March 19, with the fixture ending 1-1. Langsning’s goal on that occasion was scored by Kitboklang Pale.

Bengaluru are the only team left in Group C that are still unbeaten. They have played at home only twice, first beating Jamshedpur FC reserves on April 11 before drawing with TRAU FC 2-2 on April 16. Bengaluru then moved to the top of the standings with a 2-1 win over TRAU in Imphal on April 21, which is sure to boost their morale a great deal as they head into Wednesday’s fixture.

For the Shillong team, it was a blow to lose to Chennaiyin, but the mood in the camp remains positive. The results of their main competitors – TRAU and Mohammedan Sporting (the latter who drew 1-1 at Jamshedpur) – mean that they are still in the hunt for one of the two places from this group in the final round of the Second Division.

“It was a blow for us in the last game, but we’ve been trying to keep the boys motivated. After this match we will return home so they very much want to give a good performance tomorrow,” Langsning assistant coach Dapmon Tariang said a day prior to the match.
