Laptops distributed to meritorious students

Haflong, Feb 6: The Laptop computer distribution programme to students who secured 1st Division in H.S.L.C. Examition 2015 in Dima Hasao District held at Cultural Instituted Hall in Haflong today. The Anundaram Borooah Award was launched by Chief Minister in the year 2005. The ceremonial programme was organised by District Education Department in association with District Administration. Amarendra Baruah, Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao presided over the meeting and Subash Longmailai, retired IAS officer attended as the chef guest.

A total of 522 students received the laptops and among them Gurjal Suri, Rajesh Roy of Don Bosco High School, Haflong and Prithiviraj Dutta of Ever Green High School Maibang attained 1st, 2nd and 3rd position in Dima Hasao respectively.

Congratulating all meritorious students & their parents, Amarendra Baruah, Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao, in his welcome speech briefed about life and activities of Anda Borooah, the 1st I.C.S of Assam. He described Anda Borooah as a man of principal, who dedicated his life for the upliftment of Assam. He called upon the students to follow the principal’s laid by Anundaram Borooah to pave the way towards development of Assam.  

Subash Longmailai encouraged the students and asked to continue the trend of good result. The programme was also attended by E. Sajem, retired Principal, Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Haflong, and V.L.T. Bapui, retired Principal Synod High School dignitaries, teachers, parents and students. The programme ended with a vote of thanks Gayatri iding, Inspector of School, Dima Hasao.
