Large number of Congress workers join BJP in KA

HOWRAGHAT, May 9: Many supporters, workers and leaders of Congress formally joined the Bharatiya Jata Party (BJP) on Saturday at Bakaliaghat in Karbi Anglong district. On the occasion, a mass joining-cum-party rally was organized at Bakaliaghat HS School playground.

Altogether 2500 Congress supporters and workers from Langpher MAC constituency and 111 supporters of HSDC joined BJP under the leadership of Sum Ronghang former CEM, KAAC.

State BJP president Siddhartha Bhattacharya addressed the rally as chief guest. He welcomed the Congress renegade workers into the BJP and said that his party was working for equal development. Hence, the BJP was getting mass support from all sections of people in every part of the country, the State BJP president added.

While speaking on the various social problems of Karbi Anglong district, Bhattacharya reiterated that issues of Karbi Anglong were constitutiol issues and to solve them, support of all would be needed.

During the rally, Joyram Engleng, president of State Scheduled Tribe (ST) Morcha, Sum Ronghang, Ramkrish Ghosh, secretary, State BJP and Arun Terang, president, BJP, Karbi Anglong District Committee (KADC) also delivered speech.

 Meanwhile, a bike rally was also organized on Saturday by the Congress at Bakaliaghat along the NH-36. The bike rally was headed by Bidya Sing Engleng, MLA of Diphu constituency. Hundreds of supporters joined he bike rally.
