Law-and-order situation reviewed in BTC

KOKRAJHAR, April 2: A day after the visit of Joint Home Secretary, Government of India, Sambhu Singh and Ashok Prasad, Interl Special Security, Home on Wednesday, a meeting of the unified command structure was held at Kokrajhar Circuit House on Thursday where the GOC of the 21 Mountain Brigade Major General CP Mahanty and GOC of 4 corps Major General Sarath Chand were also present along with Joint Home Secretary, Government of Assam, Mahada nda Hazorika. The meeting reviewed the law-and-order situation in the BTC ahead of council elections to be held on April 8.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendent of Police of four BTC districts, Additiol Director General of Police (ADGP), Assam-RM Singh. IGP (SB), Hiren th and other high civil and police officials were present.

Talking to reporters, the GOC of 21 Mountain Division, Major General CP Mahanty said the meeting of the unified command structure was held to review the law-and-order situation in BTC to ensure that the upcoming election in BTC is conducted smoothly and peacefully

Joint Home Secretary, Government of Assam, Mahada nda Hazorika said the State Government was committed to holding free and fair election in BTC. He said that all law enforcing agencies had been asked to take all necessary measures for peaceful election and the security forces had been asked to maintain peace during and after election.

An important security review meeting was held at Kokrajhar Circuit house along with SN Singh, IGP of Law and Order, Kishor Jha Additiol Director General of CRPF, Kokrajhar District Administration and the Indian Army, SSB, BSF officers on April 1.
