lbari village head murdered, 3 arrested

LBARI, MAY 1: Sensation prevailed here following the murder of one Girish Deka , the village head of No 1 Janogog village under lbari police station allegedly by one Brajen Goswami , a resident  of village Alengidal.

According to information available here body of Girish Deka was found in the rented house of Kandarpa Goswami at Jajbhumi Chowk here on Wednesday. Sources said the body was tied with a rope around his neck.

After the recovery of the body , local people alleged that landlord Goswami was involved in the murder of Deka. The family member of Deka also claimed that he was murdered.

Meanwhile, the local people registered massive protest against the killing of Deka when his body reached  Jajbhumi Chowk on Thursday from lbari civil hospital after post-mortem. The angry people blocked the lbari—Hajo Road in protest against the killing of Deka. The people also organised a protest meeting at Jajbhumi Chowk on Thursday.

Situation , however, took ugly turn when irate mob damaged some properties of accused Kandarpa Goswami and also set ablaze some of his goods.

Police resorted to lathi charge to disperse the angry protesters. Police apprehended two local youths—Gautam Deka and Munindra Kalita in connection with the incident. Later police also arrested Kandarpa Goswami on charges of his involvement in the murder of the village head.
