Leaders of 24 organizations in legal tangle

HAMREN, July 15: Against the move of the State Government and the KAAC authority for inclusion of Panchayati Raj system in Karbi Anglong under the area of Six Schedule Hill District, 24 organizations had called for 36-hour Karbi Anglong bandh on July 6 and July 7.

A case has been registered at Diphu Court against the leaders of the 24 organizations GR No. 504/2017, under section IPC 120B/468/469/188/427/440 and section 505/283/511, which was registered based on the FIR lodged by Bishitra Hajong at Diphu Police Station Lurulangso, claiming that this was in gross disobedience of the order of the Supreme Court delivered on 12/11/1997, and the order of Gauhati High Court issued on 6/01/2010.

The accused leaders of the organizations include Dhansing Ronghang, Rajesh Tisso, John Ingti Kathar, Pettarson Rongphar and Toppon Timung, sources said
