LED solar street lighting system in State

Itanagar, May 19: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned LED solar street lighting system for Arunachal Pradesh under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) with a total grant of Rs 87, 83, 059. The project would be implemented in the four districts of the state - Tirap, Longding, Namsai and Tawang. Chief Minister Pema Khandu launched the scheme here yesterday in the presence of NABARD chairman Harsh Kumar Bhanwala, who called on him at his office.

Bhanwala during the meeting briefed the Chief Minister about the dedicated "Micro Irrigation Fund" (MIF) with NABARD under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), which was passed by the Union Cabinet recently with a corpus of Rs 5,000 crore, an official communiqué informed.

He also informed Khandu about the 'Dairy Processing & Infrastructure Development Fund' and urged the state government to avail the fund. The scheme focuses on building an efficient milk procurement system.

Further Bhanwala suggested the chief minister on conducting financial literacy awareness programme at schools for which the expenditure would be covered by NABARD.

He also informed the chief minister about EShakti, an initiative launched by NABARD that aims at digitization of all the self-help group accounts to bring them under the fold of financial inclusion, the communiqué added.
