Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar urges MS Dhoni not retire, says India needs him

Mumbai: Amidst all the rumours and confusions of Indian’s former skipper MS Dhoni, one heart touching request made to the cricketer to reconsider his retirement decision has been able to catch the eyes. This humble request to MS Dhoni has been made by none other than the ‘Nightingale of India’ Lata Mangeshkar.

The eldest singer of the country, in a recent tweet, has said, “Namaskar MS Dhoni ji. I am hearing that you want to retire. Please don't think like that. The country needs your game and it is my request as well that you should needs your game and it is my request as well that you should not entertain any thought of retirement.” The melodious singer tweeted in Hindi.

The 89-year-old legendary singer happens to be an avid follower of cricket and after her recent tweet addressing Dhoni to not to take retirement at present has proved it as well that she is a big fan of the former Indian skipper. Even though Dhoni’s performance in the recently held World Cup tournament was not that satisfactory but that has not been able to diminish his popularity among his fans.

However, there were rumours of Dhoni considering retirement after the World Cup was also in the air which was later being dismissed by Dhoni. Now that team India has crashed out of the tournament, there might be pressures on Dhoni to opt for retirement. But not everybody including Dhoni thinks that his retirement will be a solution at this moment. With fans showering their support for their favourite player Dhoni on social media, there is hardly any need for the favourite man of the tournament to call it quits.

In the meantime, BCCI acting President CK Khanna and COA member Diana Edulji have taken to laud the team for their performance in the World Cup cricket. Edulji also added that the former captain has shown that he still has a lot of cricket left in him and hence, there can be no question of him retiring.
