LeT Terror Operatives Attack Police Picket in J&K’s Anantnag, One LeT Militant Shot Dead, Policeman Injured

Jammu and Kashmir: In a fierce gunfight between the banned Islamic terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, a LeT terrorist was gunned down while a policeman sustained bullet injuries following a heavy exchange of fire.

Reportedly, on Saturday morning, a group of LeT operatives attacked a police post in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. In an act of retaliation, the police forces replied them with heavy firing.

Police informed that the LeT operatives attacked the police picket at Achabal in the south Kashmir district. They also said that the attack was successfully thwarted by jawans on duty at the picket.

In retaliatory action, one militant was killed, the spokesman said. He also informed that the weapon of the militant was also recovered from the site of the attack.

According to Jammu and Kashmir police, the slain LeT terror operative has been identified as Bilal Ahmad who hails from Tantraypora Yaripora of Kulgam district.

The police spokesman further said, “Two cars have also been seized from the spot by the police, which were likely used by the LeT operatives. We have registered a case in this connection and an investigative team has been formed which is closely looking into the terrorist attack, they are in progress.”

It may be mentioned that Bilal had joined the the terror outfit LeT three months ago. On further investigation, it was revealed that his involvement was also established in a weapon snatching case earlier. He was involved in carrying out terror attacks on the security forces and civilian atrocities in the area, police informed.

Meanwhile, the injured policeman who sustained bullet injuries has been admitted to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment.
