The Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 is Apparently Unconstitutional

Clause(1) of Article 15 of our Constitution has prohibited discrimination of citizens on grounds only of religion, race, caste, sex, place of birth or any one of them. But government for fear of earning displeasure of the Judiciary has concealed their real intention and tried to discover an imaginary ground to confer Indian Citizenship on 1.5 crore Hindus in Bangladesh. The ground on which citizenship would be conferred on Bangladeshi Hindu according to our government is religious atrocities on these people. But there is no evidence to prove that Hindus in Bangladesh have been subjected to any discrimination; government can't conceal its motive. If the Hindus in Bangladesh have been victim of alleged atrocities, the primary responsibility of the government is to complain against such action. During the visit of our P.M and other ministers in Bangladesh, they did not mention of such atrocities in their talk. Although Home Minister tried to assure us that Assam alone need not accept the Hindu Bangladeshis but why our P.M did not convene a Chief Minister's conference to discuss the number of Hindu Bangladeshis that each state is willing to take? What number of such Hindu Bangladeshis would be accepted by Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra etc? The Government's target of settlement of these people is only in Assam for creation of vote bank here.

Secondly, it violates the clause(6) of Assam Accord between Government of India and AASU; if an accord made by the Central Government is thrown away by the subsequent government at it's sweet will for political purposes it would set in a dangerous trend and no one will trust our government.

Thirdly, it is against the federal principle of our country. Different states were organised on the basis of languages. Government cannot import and settle foreigners speaking different languages in a state to make the existing people minority and threaten their language.

Lastly, government is now giving many false promises to appease people which are impossible to fulfil. Now government has no time for fulfilment these promises and BJP may not rule our country forever!

On Wrong Hands

Controversial so called intellectual Dr Hiren Gohain after declaring war against the sovereign Republic of India in a rally in Guwahati was very naturally booked on sedition charges by the state government. In the rally where he addressed a small gathering before camera tried to incite the public to go for Swadhin Asom. After he was granted bail by the Honorable High Court, a team of Congress leaders like Ripun Bora, Rokibul Hussain, Debabrata Saikia, etc met him in his residence. In the discussion Dr Hiren Gohain urged the Congress leaders to work for safeguarding the democracy and constitution of the country. Through your esteemed daily I would like to remind Dr Hiren Gohain that Congress and Democracy doesn't coexist together. It was the Congress who murdered Democracy and violated the constitution of the country during the emergency period under Lt Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He can definitely go through the history pages how innocent Sikhs were massacred post Indira Gandhi's assassination. A person of doubtful integrity like Dr Hiren Gohain have always played with the sentiments of the Assamese people as he is fully aware of the pulse of the people.
