Letters to The EDITOR-Contentious Bill

Contentious Bill

There had been vigorous protests and agitations against the contentious Bill from people of almost all walks of life in Assam and NE states for over a month now. Still, the Central Government was adamant to pass the bill in Parliament, and it was passed in Lok Sabha on February 10, 2019 in the Budget Session. And the Bill was going to be placed in Rajya Sabha on February 11 and 12. But, the NDA Government chose not to place it in Rajya Sabha. And the Rajya Sabha Chairman adjourned the Rajya Sabha sine die. This gave relief to the people, particularly of Assam and NE states as well as of opposition of other states, and they have been overwhelmed by joy. Now, I would like to fervently request the honorable Prime Minister kindly not to deny the sentiments of people of a state or region and kindly think twice in such sensitive issue before taking a decision, whatsoever philosophy of his political party, because he is after all, Prime Minster of the country, all the people.

Putul Sarma,

Bamgaon, Biswanath Chariali.
