Licenced Arms Holders asked to Deposit arms in Police Stations by next 3 days

Guwahati: In view of ensuing the Panchayat Polls, 2018 to be held on 21 Gaon Panchayat areas within Kamrup (M) District and for smooth conduct of the upcoming Panchayat election, the District Magistrate of the Kamrup (M), Virendra Mittal in an order has directed all the licenced arms holders in the 21 Gaon Panchayat areas to deposit their licenced arms in their nearest police stations.

As per the order the 21 Gaon Panchayat areas are Dharapur, Azara, Garal, Majirgaon, Kahikuchi, Kamarkuchi, Chandrapur, Digaru, Barkhat, Baruabari, Hahara, Tetelia, Sonapur, Panikheiti, Nartap, Khetri, Topatoli, Dhopguri, Maloibari, Amsing and Pachim Mayong.

The District Magistrate, Virendra Mittal has asked all the armed licensed holders to deposit their licensed guns within the next 3 days period of time until further orders.

It may be mentioned that the Panchayat polls in Assam will be held in two phases on December 5 and December 9 in 26 districts and 14 civil sub-divisions.

The counting will take place on December 12.
