License of two fair price shops suspended

SILCHAR, May 11: Dilip Kumar Roy, in-charge, Food and Civil Supply of Lakhipur visited two fair price shops on May 2 following numerous complaints against them. People have been complaining against Ainur Uddin Khan of Pailapool under Lakhipur cooperative society and Abdul Hakim Choudhury, Manipur Part II under Cahndrapur cooperative society. Customers have complained that priority rice and kerosene oil are not properly distributed by these two fair price shop owners. It is causing problem for the people since both the commodities are essential in ture.
Upon his visit, Roy ceased their sale registries along with other registries and documents. He submitted the report to SDO (Civil) T T D Daulagopu, in-charge ADC, Cachar. In total, 64 complaints from the customers have been received against Ainur Uddin Khan and 82 customers have complained against Hakim Choudhury. After receiving the reports, Daulagopu has denied Ainur Uddin Khan and Hakim Choudhury from running the shop. However, to provide for continuous supply of rice and kerosene oil, two persons has been for asked for doing the needful. Ainur’s shop will be run by Rakesh Singh and Ahmed Ali Choudhury will look after Hakim’s shop. The main purpose of the department of Food and Civil Supply is to see that there is no discrepancy in supplying food grains like rice and wheat and other essential commodities like kerosene oil and sugar. The prices of the various commodities are also supervised by the department so that shop owners cannot charge prices other than specified.
