US Navy veteran Adam Purinton of Olathe is awarded with a punishment of three consecutive life sentences in the crime of killing Indian engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla and wounding two others at a suburban Kansas City bar last year.
It was in February last year, when Adam Purinton committed the crime in Austins Bar & Grill in Olathe, Kansas. The Indian nationale to be killed in the hands of the navy veteran was 32 years old Srinivas Kuchibhotla and the other two persons wounded by the same were Alok Madasani (Indian) and Ian Grillot (a resident of Kansas). This is shocking but the truth is that three people became a point of target of the navy veteran because of their race, color and national origin.
Before the recent judgement against the criminal, he was also pleaded guilty in federal court. This was also being admitted by him in the federal court that he targeted and shot Kuchibhotla and Madasani, the Indians, because of their race, colour, and national origin. However, he had to shoot Grillot in his attempt to flee from the scene of the crime.
As per records of the witnesses, before opening fire on the Indian nationals, Purinton yelled “Get out of my country!” It is being said by the witnesses that Purinton thought the Indians to be Iranians.
By profession, Kuchibhotla was an engineer with the U.S. company Garmin who after his sudden shocking death left his widow Sunayana Dumala behind. Saddened and hurt, stating her state of mind after the sudden death of her husband, Sunayana Dumala said to Purinton that she and her husband came to the United States full of aspirations. she said, “Now, my American dream – and that of Srinu’s – is broken.”
Remembering her husband Dumala said that her husband was always kind and respectful to others.
