Literary icon Padmath Gohain Baruah's diary handed over to TU

Tezpur, June 7: As per the decision of preservation and digitalization of different valuable books and data,  both from domestic and foreign sources, on Tuesday on the 5th anniversary of noted litterateur Padmath Gohain Baruah,  the family members of the literary icon and the office bearers of the Tezpur Sahitya Sabha under the aegis of Hemanta Kumar Baruah and Pankaj Baruah, handed over  Padmath Gohain Baruah’s diary of 1900, 1903, 1905, 1913, 1914, 1915, 1921, 1923, 1925, 1931, 1935, 1939, 1940 and 1941. On behalf of the university authority, Pro-VC, Dr. Mabendra Bhuyan, Prof. Dr. Ranjit Kumar Deva Goswami of Sankardev chair and Assamese Study Centre, Tezpur University, received the materials. Receiving the materials, Dr Ranjit Deva Goswami said that the Assamese study centre of the university had become the owner of a set of valuable property. “In the next four to five months, these diaries will be property for the world community,” he said, adding that it would be presented before the world community through digitalization. In his speech he also said that the university authority would initiate steps to preserve books and other creations of litterateurs of the State.
