Litterateur cop Partha Bijoy Dutta passes away

Guwahati: Tinsukia SDPO Partha Bijoy Dutta, who also was a promising Assamese author, poet and a multi-faceted genius breathed his last at Nemcare hospital in Guwahati. Dutta was a patient of cancer and was undergoing treatments for his prolonged illness at the same hospital.

At the time of death, Dutta was serving as the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) in Tinsukia district. Before this, he was posted as SDPO in Jonai and Namrup.

Late Dutta was born in Jorhat and had started his education life in Balak Vidyalaya, Jorhat. Further, he completed his higher studies in Delhi with honours in Political Science. Dutta, later cleared the Assam Civil Services Examination and joined the Assam Police Services. His first posting as the SDPO was in Namrup followed by Tinsukia and Jorhat.

Dutta, at the time of his death, left behind his wife Swati Kiran who is an Assamese department professor at Dibrugarh University.

The last book by late Dutta is ‘Duroir Ghonta Dhwani’. Another book by him is ‘Eri Phoolor Botor Aru Jibonor Xadhu’.
