Little time left for Budget Session deadline

Little time left for Budget Session deadline

From A Correspondent

Shillong, March 11: There is undue delay in holding the Budget Session of the Meghalaya Assembly even though the new Government in the State was formed on March 6. It may be pointed out that annually the Budget Session of the Meghalaya Assembly usually begins in the first week of March. Last year the Congress led Meghalaya United Alliance II (MUA) presented its budget on March 15. However with the Government in Meghalaya installed on March 6 and the election to the Speaker’s post to be held on Monday, there is no indications that the Budget Session may start anytime soon. “The Business Advisory Committee is yet to meet and decide on the dates,” sources in the Assembly said. It may be mentioned that while the new Government in galand was sworn-in on March 8, the Budget Session will begin on March 13. Meghalaya and galand voted on the same day -February 27 - and the votes were counted on March 3.
